PRE-REQUISITES  

  • Current BLS card issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Infection Control Certificate within the last 2 years
  • Copies of all card/certificate are required upon enrollment
  • Coronal Polish Certificate

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This 16-hour Dental Board of California approved Pit and Fissure Sealant course is designed to teach the procedure, principle and practices of applying pit and fissure sealants.  The course consists of theory and practice procedures prior to seeing patients, students must pass a written examination with at least 76%. To prepare for the written exam, study materials and a workbook to be completed prior to class will be provided upon enrollment via email.

Students must provide 4 patients to place sealants on 1 “virgin” posterior tooth in each quadrant, for a total of 4 teeth, that are at least 18 years old. Teeth must be examined, and sealants prescribed by a licensed DDS. Signed health history with teeth indicated and business card is required.

Students must provide protective eyewear, or goggles can be purchased from the school prior to the class. Masks, gowns and gloves are provided by the school.

After the successful completion of this course, a certificate in Pit and Fissure Sealants will be awarded.

Course is licensed by the Dental Board of California and the Bureau of Private Postesecondary Education in California and accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education (ACCET).
