Finding quality childcare is one of the most important — and often most challenging — responsibilities for parents and caregivers. We’ve gathered local childcare resources designed to support families, from local programs and financial assistance to trusted care providers and online tools.

CocoKids
CocoKids helps families find licensed child care and preschool programs throughout Contra Costa County. They maintain a database of providers and offer free referral services to match children with appropriate care. CocoKids also administers the Child Care Fund, which provides financial assistance and vouchers to eligible low-income families to help cover child care and preschool costs.

CCC Community Services Bureau – Head Start Programs/Child Care Services
The Community Services Bureau runs Head Start and preschool programs that provide early childhood education and care to young children of eligible families. They also manage child care subsidies and supports under state and county programs to help families access affordable early learning opportunities.

Bay Area Crisis Nursery – Crisis Child Care
Bay Area Crisis Nursery offers emergency childcare and respite care (for children ages 0–5) when parents are facing a crisis—such as health issues, housing instability, or family emergencies. Children may stay for up to 30 days in a safe, supportive environment with food, clothing, personal care items, and supervision until families can stabilize.
