At Contra Costa Medical Career College, our Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare students to work in essential positions in the field of healthcare. Medical Assistants are critical allied healthcare workers, performing important administrative and clinical duties in the offices of doctors, medical clinics, and hospitals.

Our 20-week program provides students with intensive training emphasizing medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology; diagnostic and treatment procedures, and medical office procedures and insurance billing.


In the Medical Assisting program, you’ll learn:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Medical Office Procedures
  • Medical Records Keeping and Electronic Medical Records
  • Patient Vital Signs
  • Venipuncture and Injections
  • Use of Laboratory equipment, including centrifuges and autoclaves
  • Use of Electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment

Contra Costa Medical Career College’s Medical Assisting course is offered in a hybrid-online format. Students learn classroom theory online while completing hands-on training in on-campus labs. All students also gain valuable experience through an externship.

Contra Costa Medical Career College’s Medical Assisting course combines both the Clinical Medical Assisting and Medical Administrative/Billing and Coding Specialist programs into one comprehensive program. Students are prepared to work directly with patients in medical offices and clinics. Our hands-on training prepares you for the tasks employers are hiring for, so you can step confidently into your healthcare career. Our Career Services department also provides every student with a wide range of support services and job placement assistance.

Graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be prepared for the NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam as well as the NHA Certified Medical Administrative Assistant and Billing and Coding Specialist exam.
